Call 000 immediately for police, ambulance or fire. If you can't speak safely, dial 000, stay on the line and tap the keypad — operators are trained to recognise silent calls. Do I need to create an account to find help near me?

Accepted Answer

No. Help Near You is completely free to use without an account. We don't ask for your name, email or any personal details. Search results open in Google Maps in a new tab and nothing is shared or stored on our side.

Is my location shared or stored?

Accepted Answer

No. If you choose 'Use my current location' your browser shares the coordinates with Google Maps for that one search only. Bloom does not save, log or transmit your location to anyone. You can also just type a suburb or postcode if you prefer.

What kinds of services can I find here?

Accepted Answer

Four categories: women's refuges and domestic violence shelters; hospitals and emergency departments; mental health crisis services and police stations; and food banks, community legal centres and social aid services. All searches are tailored to Australia.

Does this work outside Australia?

Accepted Answer

Bloom is designed for Australian services and our category searches default to Australia. You can still type any suburb worldwide and Google Maps will return results, but specialist Australian helplines (1800RESPECT, Lifeline, Kids Helpline) only operate in Australia.

What if I need to leave the page quickly?

Accepted Answer

Use the 'Quick Exit' button at the top of the page. It instantly closes Bloom and redirects you to the weather forecast — no trace of where you were. We strongly recommend also clearing your browser history and using a private / incognito window if you're concerned someone may check your device.

Crisis lines (1800RESPECT, Lifeline, Kids Helpline, 000) are always free. Most refuges, hospitals and community legal centres in Australia are also free or bulk-billed. Some private services may charge — always ask about costs before committing.
